INSIDE ELLIOTT HALL

The first floor of Elliott Hall is home to the Department of Business and Economics.  It is a particularly nice setup in that the study lounge and computer lab, known as the Business and Economics Center, is across the hall from Dr. Yacovissi and Dr. Carpenter offices and down the hall from the classrooms used for Economics classes.  As such, students can attend class, study, work on computers, and meet with faculty in a very convenient learning environment.

This is Professor Welch, the Chair of the Department of Business and Economics. If you have a problem, see her.

Here is a picture of the study area in the Business and Economics Center.  Notice the hardworking and diligent students.

Here is a view of the computer area of the Business and Economics Center.  Computers are brand new Dell's running Windows  XP and Office XP.

This is a class in Principles of Macroeconomics.  As you can see class size at Mansfield is small.  Principles classes run 30 to 40 students and upper division classes run 15 to 20 students.  Classes are taught by Dr. Carpenter and Dr. Yacovissi, both Ph.D.s in Economics.

Here we have a picture of Adam Smith.  His book,  An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, commonly shortened to The Wealth of Nations, is regarded as the founder of Economics.  In some way, we hope the spirit of Adam Smith lingers in the Economics program at Mansfield University.
